The Pomsky's energetic, playful, and affectionate disposition makes them a great dog for families with older children. They make excellent watchdogs and are very loyal to their owners, although they may sometimes be skittish around small children. It's important to note that Pomskies tend to be quite vocal, so they're not well-suited for apartment living. However, these dogs can be trained to bark less, though not completely. Pomskies are intelligent dogs and love to please, so training them is on the easier side. They respond best to positive reinforcement and rewards-based training. As long as they are properly trained and socialized, the Pomsky makes a well-mannered, loyal companion.

Allergies, eye problems, and patellar luxation are major health concerns for a Pomsky. It is imperative that they receive their daily required amount of exercise and activity. They also may not fare well in warmer climates due to their thick coats.

The Pomsky is an active breed due to its Husky parentage. They require an above average amount of exercise to stay healthy. Walk your Pomsky regularly and take them to an open space to play daily. They can adapt to apartment life if they get their required amount of activity, but they may not be the best breed for your neighbors due to their vocal nature.

Your Pomsky will require above average grooming, especially if it gets its coat from the Pomeranian side. You should brush them daily with a wire brush to remove loose hairs and prevent tangling. You will also need to take them to the groomer to manage their look.

Unfortunately, Pomskies shed a high amount and are not hypoallergenic. They will need daily grooming and will still leave hair in places they frequent.

The Pomsky can be small or medium depending on which parent breed dominates its makeup. This breed has a dense, silky coat that is typically multicolored. Its ears are pointy and stand up on top of its head. These dogs usually get their adorable face from the Pomeranian side of their genes.

The Pomsky is the product of two Spitz-type dogs: the Pomeranian and the Siberian Husky. "Spitz" is a word used to describe the family of dogs that all have distinct characteristics: small, pointed ears with fur, thick double coats, almond-shaped eyes, and a fluffy tail that often curls over the back. Oddly enough, the Pomsky was actually created because of an Internet myth in 2011. Long story short, people began posting pictures of their fluffy, wolf-like dogs and claimed they were Pomeranian/Husky mixes. They weren't, but after these photos went viral, breeders set to work on making the Pomsky a reality. Since then, the Pomsky has become more in-demand and, although they are one of the newest designer breeds, they have quickly become one of the most popular.
