    Patterdale Terriers are outgoing, confident, and energetic. They have a tendency to be stubborn, so early training and socialization are encouraged. They are eager to please their owners and are lovable companions with children when socialized early. Playtime for this breed is important as they can become destructive when bored.

    While Patterdale Terriers face various health issues common to dogs, this breed doesn't suffer from any breed-specific health conditions. Patterdale Terriers need consistent checkups for their ears, eyes, and joints, just to make sure they are running in top condition.

    The Patterdale Terriers is a high-energy breed that should get at least 45 minutes to 1 hour of exercise per day. These dogs are born workers, so they do very well on farms or properties with room to explore. They love to chase, so games like fetch are ideal to get their energy out.

    The Patterdale Terrier is a great hunting dog that specializes in hunting small birds or rodents. They're able to track a squirrel pelt from miles away, hunt down birds, and hunt mice with ease for their owners. These dogs have a lot of energy but aren't very yappy, so they make great, silent hunting partners out in the field. With their abundant energy and love to share with everyone, the Patterdale Terrier makes a great pet for large families. These dogs do well with other animals but don't like to be cornered. Make sure your Patterdale Terrier has lots of yard space to play and roam. These sharp and robust little hunters work great on their own and don't do well when hunting or doing other types of work with other animals. They like their own independence and work best when given a solitary task. Though they are great at hunting many different types of animals, they do best with foxes and are known to be excellent at foxhunting.
