Bichpoo Puppies

The Bichpoo is a highly intelligent, affectionate, and loyal dog that is great with children, making it a wonderful choice for families. In general, Bichpoos are friendly dogs that can get along well with just about anyone, from strangers to other dogs and pets. Given the intelligence of the Poodle and the eagerness to please of the Bichon Frise, the Bichpoo is a highly trainable dog. In terms of energy, the Bichpoo has a lot of it. However, as long as they are given enough mental and physical stimulation, a Bichpoo should not have a problem remaining calm. Without enough activity, though, these dogs may become restless, bored, and/or destructive. However, with proper care and attention, a Bichpoo will likely grow up to be a charming family companion.

They live long and healthy lives, but can be susceptible to conditions like progressive retinal atrophy, patella luxation, and allergies.

Bichpoos have lots of energy, which usually comes out in short bursts. They love playing games that stimulate them mentally and physically. Having a fenced in yard for them to run around in is encouraged, and apartment dwellers should be prepared for daily walks and playtime.

Despite being a low shedding breed, the Bichpoo's coat requires regular brushing to prevent tangles and matting. Their coat grows quickly and can become unruly if left to grow too long, so they will most likely require professional grooming every 2-4 months.

Bichpoos will shed very little, if at all due to their hypoallergenic coat.

Bichpoos feature a soft and curly coat, and because of their poodle heritage they are hypoallergenic. Their coat is typically white or apricot colored, and requires daily brushing to keep it looking its best. If left unkempt their coat is prone to matting.

Sometimes called a Poochon or a Bichon Poodle, the Bichpoo is a designer dog breed that's a cross between a Bichon Frise and a Miniature or Toy Poodle. The Bichpoo was developed in Australia during the late 1990s. At the time, breeders wanted to create a small, family-oriented dog with a non-shedding coat, and the Bichpoo was the result. It wasn't long before the Bichpoo's popularity spread to North America and Europe, and people quickly came to adore the Bichpoo's unique qualities. The breed has been recognized by several smaller dog clubs including the American Canine Hybrid Club (ACHC) and the International Designer Canine Registry (IDCR) under the name Poochon.
